About the Event

Kothaligad, also known as Peth Fort, is an excellent trekking destination located near the scenic town of Karjat in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. The journey to reach Kothaligad starts from the quaint village of Peth, which serves as the base for the trek. The initial walk to Peth village from Ambivali is relatively easy, making it accessible for trekkers of varying skill levels. As you make your way towards the village, you are greeted with picturesque views of the surrounding landscape, including lush greenery, rolling hills, and the distant mountains that create a stunning backdrop.

Once you arrive at Peth village, the real adventure begins. The climb from the village to the fort itself is a bit more challenging, as it involves navigating a series of fascinating features that add to the trek's allure. The ascent is marked by ancient caves that have been carved into the rock, which serve as a reminder of the fort's historical significance. Along the way, you will also encounter water cisterns that were once used to store water for the fort's inhabitants, showcasing the ingenuity of the architecture from centuries past. The path is further enhanced by rock-cut steps that guide you upwards, leading you towards the pinnacle of the fort.

Kothaligad is not only a perfect night trek, but it also provides an opportunity to witness the mesmerizing beauty of the night sky, far away from the pollution and lights of the city. The combination of natural beauty, historical significance, and architectural marvels makes Kothaligad an unforgettable destination for trekkers and explorers alike. Whether you are looking to immerse yourself in the rich history of the region, capture stunning photographs, or simply enjoy a peaceful night under the stars, Kothaligad offers an experience that is both enriching and exhilarating.
