Details
Embark on a two-day trek to explore the most renowned forts in the history of the Maratha Kingdom: Rajgad and Torna forts. Our journey begins from Pali/Gunjavane village, covering all the key points of Rajgad fort. We will descend via Sanjeevani Machi to the base, where we will camp in tents. On the second day, we will continue the trek towards Torna fort, concluding at Velhe village.
During the trek, you only need to carry water and snacks in a small backpack, leaving all other belongings in the vehicle.
Rajgad, the royal fort of Maharashtra, served as the first capital of the Maratha Empire under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for nearly 26 years before he moved the capital to Raigad Fort. The fort's base has a diameter of 40 km, making it challenging to besiege and enhancing its strategic importance.
Highest Elevation: 1374m, Grade: Moderate.
Torna is among the highest hill forts in Maharashtra and presents a moderate climbing challenge. Shri Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured it in 1643 at the age of 16 and renamed it Prachandagad, meaning 'Massive Fort.'
